Ingrid D. Hicks PH.D is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Consultant, Grant Writer, and Author
specializing in Minority Education and Curriculum Development. Her company
TransformationServices, Inc. is a Milwaukee Certified Emerging Business Enterprise, as well as a
Wisconsin Minority Business Enterprise. She specializes in business filings (Profit vs. Non-Profit),
Program Development, Trademarks/Branding & Evaluation, Community Networking and Collaboration,
Grant Writing for Public and Private Funds.
She also assists Mental Health and AODA facilities become
State of Wisconsin HFS 75 approved, and provides clinical oversight and supervision, as well as
Psychological and Legal consultation to Individuals and Institutions.
Dr. Hicks has advised the

program that assists disenfranchised as well as professionals become Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
She has held faculty appointments at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in the Department of
Psychology, and the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology. Prior to that she had worked at
DePaul Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and did her APA Approved Clinical Psychology Internship at the
Veterans Administration Hospital in North Chicago/University of Chicago Medical School. She has also
worked for the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex. Her specialties include women and minority
issues, both in a professional and academic setting, focusing on the development of "Professional and
Professional to Be" mentoring relationships.
Dr. Hicks received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her Master’s and Ph.D.
from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Hicks teaches, and consults in cultural and ethnic issues,
currently as it relates to ex-offenders (especially the increasing incarceration rates of women), and
other disenfranchised groups. Her present area of interest include the 'under and misdiagnosis' of
Co-Occurring Psychiatric symptoms (Mental Health and Alcohol & Drugs), as well as the areas of anger,
empowerment. Dr. Hicks is also very interested in the psychological effects and reunification of parents
and children that have been separated due to incarceration, as well as the perception, treatment, and
re-entry issues once the offender is released back to the community.
Dr. Hicks has belonged to several organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the
Wisconsin Psychological Association, National Association for Black Psychologists, American Group
Psychotherapy Association, American Association for Behavior Therapy, National Register for Health
Providers. She has been a frequent contributor to various academic journals as well as popular
magazines and appears regularly on radio and television, including past appearances on Oprah,
Geraldo, World News Tonight, Essence, Milwaukee Journal, Chicago Tribune, and NPR. Dr. Hicks is a
strong supporter of minority community activities and is very active in the arts.
Her 1st book, For Black Women Only: A Complete Guide To A Successful Life-Style Change: Health,
Wealth, and Happiness, published by Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu’s company, African American Images, has
sparked numerous work-shops and speaking engagements for African American women regarding
work situations and relationships of all kinds. A play entitled For Black Women Only, but Don’t Forget
About Our Men, written with her husband, has been performed numerous times encouraging
discussion of relationships of all kinds. She has also written a series of children's books that focus on
history and positive self-esteem development.
Dr. Hicks also provides IN-PERSON and TELEMEDICINE (ON LINE) Employee Assistance Services (EAP) for many companies including: Super Steel, Cargill, Kohl’s, Whole Foods, General Electric, IRS, and Master Lock. Participating insurers include: Wisconsin Physicians Service (WPS), ComPsych, Managed Health Network, FEI, and Humana.
